My brother has recently moved to Dubai so I'll of course just HAVE to pop over and see him sometimes. Would love to ride while I'm there - are there any places and roughly how much do they cost (I'm talking about going out for a speedy hack or something rather than a lesson as such).

If you do a google search on the following and email them you should get some options :

Arabian Ranches Polo Club
Desert Palm
Emirates Equestrian Centre
Jebel Ali Riding Centre

I used to ride at the Polo Club when we lived in Dubai (we are now in Abu Dhabi) and they do desert hacks, sure the rest do similar.

You may struggle if you go to Jebel Ali - there isn't really any hacking around there now they've built a labour camp at the back of it. Such a shame because I used to hack for miles right into the middle of the desert when I was a kid.

I didn't hack when dad had his horse at the Polo club so can't comment on that and I've never ridden at EEC or the Palm.

The Polo Club is awesome though - big arena with a decent surface if you fancy a lesson. Not sure if Farhang teaches there anymore but I would recommend him for a jumping lesson. :)

The Polo Club does hacking in the desert. And the yard is pretty amazing to look at. Also, Desert Equestrian Club has excellent hacking available it is about 20 minutes further than desert palm so about 40 minutes out of Dubai but because it is out of the city more the hacking goes on for miles and in the early morning you can see lots of wildlife :)
