Hi,

Having recently moved to the UK from Ireland I'm keen to get back into horse riding, both as a hobby and as a way to meet new people. I'm living in Uxbridge, Middlesex and work in Cricklewood, North London. I do have my own transport though so am fairly flexible as to where I can go to ride.

Ideally I would like somewhere that I can have both lessons and do some hacking. I have ridden for over 10 years and have owned my own horse in the past. My boyfriend would also like to join me the odd time so I need to find somewhere with horses big enough to take a 6ft plus man! A lot of places I have come across mainly cater for kids and don't have much choice of horse for adults. If we could find someone to share a horse with all the better but I don't want to spend too much!

Any recommendations would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Elaine :)

You could try Littlebourne in Harefield which is close to the A40, they should have horses suitable for your boyfriend. They do offer hacking but your boyfriend would need to be able to be reasonably competent for them to let him out.

If you are after lessons I would recommend Contessa in Hertfordshire, bit further away but I've been really impressed with them so far. I don't think they offer hacking

Finally maybe Snowball Farm again accessible off the A40. I've not been there myself but it was on my list of possibles before I started riding at Contessa. Its more expensive that other 2 but hacking likely to be better than Littlebourne.
