Hi, basically looking for a bit of local knowledge really.

I keep my horses in Trowell, Nottingham and since I'm from Derby I don't really know the area all that well. I really enjoy some of the hacking out that way but we tend to just go on the same routes as I don't really know any others. We tend to go either towards Cossall, Strelley Village, Babbington and as I'm on my own place I can't even ask others for ideas.

Just wondering if anyone knew of any other routes around the area, for example can you ride anywhere near the Hemlock Stone, Wollaton Park etc etc?

I don't have transport so it needs to be fairly close by but I do love going out for hours on end and the boys are great in traffic.

Thanks to anyone that can help.

There is a bridlepath from Strelley village (corner before Church) which goes to the deer woods and loops back to Oldmoor Farm.

I live 5 mins from Hemlock Stone and have horse near Bramcote Tennis courts. I don't tend to ride out from there but am just thinking. I'm wondering if there is anyway you can get across to Attenborough nature reserve, if there is a bridleway into it. Although I wouldn't want to go with horse at a weekend in good
weather. Back nearer mine, I think you could get up bulk lane when ride along on-road to where they are making the new tram station, then across the road and in the direction of long eaton Breaston (but I don't think it be particularly nice or picturesque riding out in your direction is a lot nicer! At the cross roads of Coventry Lane there is a lane just off it going to a farm shop/feed shop/livery and I'm unsure if that road is a bridle path? You could always pop over and ask where the liveries ride? Sorry sound practically useless seeing its on my doorstep! We tend to box away! Somewhere nicer like Cossal, or further a field, Hannah

I've never ridden round there, but we did used to live that way. You can't ride by the Hemlock Stone - lots of stroppy notices. Although, I'm sure I've seen horses in Bramcote Park in the past?

I think there is a bridlepath off coventry Lane - by the farm shop. You might be able to ride towards Kimberley as well if you can get to Strelley. In the same direction, but further up the road into Bilborough, there's a bridleway that runs next to the huge, monstrosity of a new build house "Ashlands". That links up with the bridleway from the farm shop.

We had friends that stabled at Kimberley and they were able to hack over into Shipley Park - don't know whether that might be do-able from where you're stabled? Certainly worth trailering up, to go there if not.

I don't think you can ride in Wollaton Park - I've certainly never seen anybody riding there. My mother informs she used to as a kid though and remembers being chased out by the gamekeeper ;)

Hi Just notice this post,

I've been riding round this area for years and know most of the bridle paths. There is a bridlepath(moor lane) that runs paralel with coventry lane it leads to the a52 ,its goes across the a52 to bridle road and than leads to bulk lane and comes out on to nottingham road bramcote which leads you back to coventry lane. Sandy lane is nr moor lane,is a bridlepath that goes over bramcote ridge (has been resigned as a footpath but it is a bridlepath).
You dont get away with riding on bramcote park anymore ,the dog walkers get very aggressive!!lol but you can get away with riding in the hemlockstone which leads to some fields you can have a canter round than comes out on the old canal on coventry lane.
hope this helps Hx
