I wonder if anyone has been riding in the Camargue region in the S. of France?

Can anyone recommend anywhere near Montpellier?

I used to love the TV programme about six white horses when I was a kid, but in reality they look like dingy, regular, little native ponies when I've seen them!

Should I go & investigate, am I too tall now or would I be disappointed & shatter a school-girl dream from decades ago?

Just make sure to find a place where the poor horses aren't kept tied up along the road all day in the burning sun for the benefit of naive tourists (and the huge profits of the handler

) who don't know that once the season is over they're all loaded onto a truck and off to the slaughter house...

Pick a place that is labeled "Ecole Française d'Equitation".

Thanks blackeventer.

Is "Ecole Française d'Equitation" like the BHS (British Horse Society) or ABRS (Association of British Riding Schools) I wonder? I was trying to remember the name of a French governing body earlier.

Yep. They have a blue white and red logo representing the head of a horse. The only guarantee that they are officially recognized by the French governing body. It's a combination of BHS and ABRS.
Sorry I can't recommend one. Camargue horses are fab. If I find something, I'll PM you.
