*stupid question alert* :D

I have a lesson on the horse I help out with this morning, but it is raining pretty heavily! Horse isn't rugged so he is going to be dripping wet, lovely! I have only been tacking up myself for about a month now and I don't think in that time that I've had to do it when he's wet. Are there certain things I have to do? I presume I need to get him dry...tips on how? Is a towel the best thing to use?

And same after the lesson, do I just turn him back out rugless? Do I need to dry off his tack?

If I sound like a beginner its because I am :D

Old towel, get the worst of it off. Ride with a decent numnah then cool down as usual before chucking back out. Obviously check horse for mud or anything else that could rub before putting the saddle on.
Enjoy your ride!

Thanks :)

I haven't yet managed to get him to break a sweat yet in one of our lessons so not much cooling down required lol :D

Also dry his tack off afterwards as if leather gets soaked it dries out. Best bet is to towel off the worst then let it dry naturally. Once dry apply a good leather conditioner :)

Luckily it didn't end up being that wet :) he was a bit soggy when I brought him in so just rubbed him down as best I could and off we went. Didn't rain during the lesson so I didn't have to worry about the tack but now I know for next time!
