I dont know wether to ride today! Its boiling hot, horse has been out all day. Didnt ride yesterday and he was SJ on Monday and gave him Sunday off as he was SJ on Sat.
He was really tired yesterday and can be really lazy, not sure whether to ride him today as he might keel over! Would a gentle hack be the best thing or not ride at all? Any ideas? Im off to the farm in a bit!

I'm off out to ride in a few minutes - just a gentle hack! Get out there and enjoy this lovely weather - it's been a long old winter.

I've got a lesson tonight and it's so hot I'm dreading it! It's not til 6.45 though so it might have cooled down a bit by then.

I hacked out last night and it wasn't too bad once we got going, just make sure you allow time for him to cool down when you get back if you do ride.

No! 1 day should be more than enough! Mine got ridden yest after a 12mile ride on Monday. If he is feeling sluggish and has been sweating with his work, may be worth trying electrolytes in his feed.

Go for it,
God we moan when its too cold, we moan when its rainy and now we moan when it is too hot! I put on a t shirt and a little zippy hoody this morning to ride in the boling sun because I thought it might loose me a few extra calories then I can have an extra glass of wine tonight in the sun!!!! I know im an idiot!!!! x x x

Get out and ride, and appreciate this weather whilst we have it!!!!!!!!

Will try that as he is a sweater! Normally only give them after XC or hard work, is it ok to feed them every day?

I did an ODE on two horses on monday - it was sweltering but I don't think they gave a monkeys - as for me, well changing between jacket, body protector and jacket again made me rather warm indeed! Very attractive red 'glow' I had!!!

Oh yes after taking two horses round two SJ classes on Monday I did NOT look attractive! My hair was wet through and I looked like a tomato! My horse still looked nice tho bless him ha

Wouldnt feed them everyday, but when he has been working hard or sweating. I use the Baileys ones which are great

At the moment he sweats quite easily in this weather so I might pop a few in when he does. Thanks for the tip x

I went for a short ride this morning - well it was more of a schooling session for me to practice my seat. Did transitions up and down and was out for about 30 minutes and gave my faithful steed a sponge down when we got back

I went for a nice hack last night, sticking to mainly trot or canter. Henry struggles at this time of year as his summer coat isn't *quite* there, but the weather pretty much is!

Hurrah!

I ended up going for a very quiet trot and a small canter around the fields. Couldnt be bothered with the school as it was full of mad people careering around on ponies. had a very nice time, sponged him down and he was happy as larry.
