I do shifts earlies and lates- when I'm on earlies I can't ride at all lates are ok can ride in the morning.
My pony is 17 so won't do her any harm to not be ridden as much but she's so FAT and lack of excercise doesn't help. Really need her ridden a couple of times on that early week! How do u all cope? Wondering about paying someone to ride her.... But think it's a bit cheeky to expect an instructor to trapse through mud, groom, hack to school n ride then put out etc, etc! Grr I hate winter. Very concerned if I can't get her weight down b4 the spring. I'm in Kent if anyone has any ideas.
Thanks
Thanks.

Advertise for a sharer? Can you lunge to save time on days you don't ride?

Can you change feeds - perhaps adding straw to your hay?

What about rugs - if she is a bit overweight, then could she go naked or drop down a rug weight?

Native pony lover- She's still living out on strip grazed field not having hay yet. Fully clipped in medium weight combo. Is fed once a day spillers light balancer and a handful of chaff. We don't have a school on site there is 1 a 5 minute walk away but would mean going along a dark lane to get there :(.

is the lane that you have to go along to get to the school quiet? i hack out at nights when im on an early shift have about a 20 minute road hack on a quiet road untill i get to off road hacking, i use a head torch and it makes a good bit off difference as i can see more, road has no lights, as well as being head to toe in hi viz, or have you though about getting someone to do that five miunte walk along the road with you with a torch? theres always a way round it plus if she lives out she will be used to all the monsters that lurk around in the dark :)
