You'll be fine K. You're the customer. Just tell RI how nervous you are and then its up to HER to give you a good lesson, pitched at the right level for you and for you to come out of it begging her for more! She won't get that if she makes you feel an inch high. PLEASE put a post on later about how it went! xxx

I think we're all like this! Don't worry just remember there will always be people who ride better than you and worse than you, and your instructor will have seen them all! Good Luck

Riding instructors don't generally make their reputations nor money by taunting their clients on their lack of skill.
She's there to help YOU! Remember to actually talk to her about your horse, your ambitions, and what you would like.
You'll enjoy it.

I'm sure you will be fine and enjoy yourself to the point where you come out thinking 'wasn't I a muppet for being so nervous' and 'roll on next lesson'

Don't forget to come and let us all know how it went though

box_of_frogs is absolutely right. The RI wants you as a repeat customer, so if she's decent in any way at all, and has half a brain in her head, she won't make you feel stupid at all, she'll help you.

I hate people watching me ride, i always feel completely self-conscious and unco-ordinated. If its any consolation, the RI will have seen plenty of worse riders than you !

Good luck with the lesson - if you need the name of another instructor who specialises in very nervous riders and concentrates on confidence building, let me know as I am in the same area as you. This person has helped my friend loads and loads - a year ago my friend was so terrified that she would only hack out on a lead rein, but now she is cantering and even managed a little cross pole the other day.
