Hello all!

I have finally decided to get back into the saddle after retiring my warmblood mare. I am looking for riding lessons as it has been about 2 years since I was riding properly and need to get my confidence back and rid of any bad habits.

I know there are many riding schools in Essex, however most have a 13 stone weight limit. I am on a diet, however i am quite muscled as i go to the gym 5, 5'9 and about 14 1/2 stone (although this is coming down each week).

I have ridden on and off for well over a decade and have evented successfully to BE90, so i'm hoping a school would take this into consideration. I am obviously rather embarrassed already about it all so wouldn't want someone to stand me on the scales and turn me away.

Anything nearer chelmsford, but willing to travel for the right place.

TIA x

why not have a few goes on a mechanical horse to initially help you get back into the swing of things. there is one at becky chapmans place, ashen equestrian centre, which i used when getting back after hip ops and i found it really useful to show me whether i was balanced evenly etc.. not sure if there are any closer to you,,

I have a feeling the weight limit at Hemps Green is higher than a lot of places. You should be able to find them on facebook and ask - Lisa Spence at Hemps Green. It is Colchester way but near the train station. Good horses and instruction - not your "typical" riding school.
