Hello :)

Does anyone know any good App's which will allow me to monitor how many miles i cover when out riding?
I imagine a lot of them will be running/cycling related, but they should work on a horse?!
Preferably free ones! :D

Thankies :)

iMapMyRide I found. I havent used it yet but think i does what you are looking for. In log a workout you can set it to horse riding, so would have thought you could do the same for record a work out. (if not its for a bike so will still record map and distance etc)

I think it was free too!

You need a garmin forerunner 301

Set it to cycling and it will record your speed on your horse, time taken, gradients, mileage.

You can wear it whilst out riding then download into your computer-you can also map your rides with google earth!

I use phresheez, its free and aimed at skiers. however totally fab, tracks you and you can play back you ride shows where you where tracked by time, will tag pics on your route. you can view on map or satellite

I use a Garmin Forerunner 305 to measure distance, ave speed etc. It also does Heart Rate which you probably don't need. They are quite expensive new but if you only want to know mileage you could probably pick up a second hand Garmin GPS sports watch quite cheap on ebay. Lots of runners and cyclists use them and will update to newer models.

But the forerunner cannot replay like my link, with animation and pictures!!

I think you'd be better off getting a little cute android phone (Xperia Mini Pro is lovely)

Aha!! I've just amazed myself - discovered how to work out mileage on Google Earth using the "create path"/click & spot with the mouse thing-ummy-wotsit.

OK once you get the hang of it - and now I can work out the mileage of all my fave rides; not quite as high tek as some of you guys, but in my conquest of the computer, will keep me amused for a bit.

Simples!
