I've not taken a horse to Hayling Island, but I have to Bracklesham Bay and they aren't far from each other.

You need to go around low tide- generally riding an hour either side of low tide is good and start riding while the tide is still going out. It comes in quicker than you think! Hayling Island has good parking near the Inn on the Beach with no height restrictions.

There are restrictions over the summer about what time horses are allowed on Hayling Island beach (there aren't for Bracklesham) so you need to check low tide is happening during those times. You can generally get tide times a week in advance.

You can check the tide times online. Go at low tide. It gets really busy there! Best to go as early as possible imo and not during school holidays. Lots of kite surfers / dog walkers and several horses when I went. Parking is easier

This is our 'regular' beach.

Have a look at the tides, and beware that times are restricted for horses to early mornings and evenings in the summer.

I would also say its a very busy beach so you've got to be incredibly careful - especially of children and dogs. We've had instances where out of control dogs have been kicked by my horse (he was terribly upset, and only did this because he was being terrorised!) But unfortunately people seem especially clueless with both dogs and children - we find there are a lot of children wondering round unsupervised and acting very naively around the horses, despite our best efforts! For that reason, early morning would be my recommendation!

The beach itself isn't too dangerous - a bit stoney by the car park (which is spread out rather informally, but lovely and large for a box!) but once you get away from that section, there is plenty of nice sand to have a gallop!

Have fun and make sure to post pics after! :)

Can anyone tell me where we park lorries for the beach at Hayling? We'll be in 2 big 7.5ton boxes so need somewhere without a height barrier. Thanks in advance
