I live in the Ipplepen area, about 15/20 minute drive from the moors. Me and the other half have got a week off work next week and I wanted to take him hacking over the moors. I used to, when I was young, ride at Sherberton Farm - Diana Coaker?? - and would love to go there but not sure whether they are still going, or if anyone else has any ideas of where to go? I'm not a total novice (!) but suffer with nerves, hubby is a total novice and also nervous (God just realised we sound like a totally pathetic pair - I can assure these nerves have only come from a bad accident out hacking for the pair of us, we're not total wusses!!!).
Thanks
:D

Hi,
I don't think Sherberton is still going but you could try Shilstone rocks at Widecombe. I have seen quite a few beginers out with them and they seemed quite happy. If you are both a little nervous it may be a good place to start.
Enjoy your ride

When I went to Dartmoor last year I had a couple of excellent rides at Barbeny Stables.

One day we went hard and fast and the next we had a nervous lady with us so stuck to walk and trot, both days were excellent and they do put you in groups according to ability and confidence.

Stunning scenery and horses that were very foot sure and calm.
