Hi!

Im thinking about opening a small riding school - there is a definate market for it near me. just a small quality clean type! lol

Ive enquired about licenses, can easily get the horses/ponies i have my BHSII

but ....... ive sent off for some quotes for insurance - now this will be the part that stings me. bearing in mind though it will be small, well run and only my husband and I running it (for now)

how much do you pay and who are you with??

Thanks x

Depends on what sort of cover you want but public liability is essential and starts from about £1,600 a year.

Just a thought..... but you may be able to get some lottery funding for the setting up of a riding school if you are the only one in the area. A school near to us got a grant...... it would be worth trying.

Don't forget Business rates they are crippling too.

There is a reason why there are no riding schools in your area and why one a week closes. Rates, Insurance and a sue them culture.

Ours is £3,600 and that is for the cover that we absolutely need - ie public liability/3rd party liabilty and the tack . If we had the horses insured and our costs when we can't get out due to snow/ice etc it gets pushed up to nearly £7,000 a year
