I'm looking to return to riding after a 10 year gap, I'm almost 58 and have osteoporosis and Long Covid so am planning to have a couple of lessons on the mechanical horse at Carrington to see how my body copes, if all goes well I would then be looking to have lessons to get me back into the swing of things and maybe some gentle hacking 🤞 My daughter wants to join me in lessons (she's 21 and rode briefly as a child) but Carrington appears to only be open 2 days a week and the hours wouldn't suit daughters working hours and North Cheshire Equestrian Centre isn't open for lessons at all at the moment 🙁
Can anyone recommend a riding school within a 20/30 min drive of Stockport? I used to ride at Bank Farm in Poynton but have my reservations about it, there is Mill Farm which is not far from me, but I'd rather find somewhere that is approved if possible, and so many riding schools don't put instructors qualifications on there websites, I'm wanting to find someone that will look after me as a returning adult rider who is slightly broken in the body 🙈🤣

Ah thank you, I'll have a look at MEC, do they have an indoor?
I ride at Daisy nook (I am in my early 40s and started about 4 years ago. They have just expanded to MEC, so whilst I cannot vouch for that site, the team at Daisy nook are heavily involved and are all excellent. so I wold say it will be with a look (they are currently advertising one off and permanent private lesson spaces on their socials, and have an open day on Easter monday, so may fill up after that. Daisy nook has just become BHS approved school. (I live in Sale so will be keeping an eye as it will be a much shorter commute if we move from daisy nook in the future, bu currently my daughter loves her teacher and is happy, so I wont rock the boat)

Oh that's good to know, sounds like MEC are really expanding, I'll definitely look into them, I have looked at Daisy Nook too which is 20/30 mins drive on the motorway so it's good to hear that they are excellent too 😀

They are, as I say, I ride there, they have loads of great horses for adults. my 6 year old is also taught there and they have some amazing ponies suitable for her. Its a trek for me (25 mins round the M60), but when I started, I was learning with a friend from north Manchester and it was the best one for us to meet at, and I have been there ever since.

I've just had a look at which would be easier to get to for us, they are both 20/30 mins on the motorway so I will have a look at both of them 😊
