Hi
Has anyone been to Coltspring School of riding in Rickmansworth and what were your thoughts? Or can anyone recommend a decent riding school in the nearby area. Not Rosehall Farm though, thanks.
Just looking for somewhere with well looked after (& calm) horses, decent hacks and good quality teaching. Do not currently own, so am just looking for a school that offers lessons. Thanks in advance!

Colt spring is nice, IMO and they listen to you and progress you BUT it is super expensive. If you join the Herts Horserider group on Facebook, you can get loads of recommendations. I can join you if you pm me your email. :)

Their prices aren't too bad. Cheaper than Wellington in Hook which I where I am going at the mo, which is a bit of a trek! Thanks for the tip, will give Coltsping and Brawlings farm a try first as they are closest and have been recommended.

I have been to both Colt Spring and Brawlings Farm now for lessons.
Colt Spring's tuition was good and a little cheaper than Brawlings, however I felt a little out of my depth and think they are probably better for more seasoned riders. They also didn't ask me to fill in any forms with emergency details etc which I thought was a little worrying.
I have since done more lessons at Brawlings and I really love this yard. People are super friendly, the instruction is very good and I feel like I have already come on a bit. They are a bit more expensive than other riding schools in the vicinity but then again, it's worth paying extra for good instruction with ponies & horses who are clearly loved.

I'd be interested to hear how you got on madaboutponies - I'm currently looking for a riding school in Herts (other than RHF).

Thanks!

I know Brawlings as our RC run dressage competitions there, the school horses and riders enter and the horses do well and look in good condition often beating us horse owners.

My instructor teaches at Littlebourne and they have a RC and lots activities that people can join in on the school horses and the horses are well cared for.
