Riding schools in milton keynes

I can give you a few!

Loughton - They have a very odd way of teaching jumping and are patronising to kids. But, I've heard they do good schooling lessons.

Lakes Lane - Not been for years, but it seems quite good now!

Bryerley Springs - Never ridden there myself, but I'm heard really good and really bad things.

It's saddening that I can't seem to find more :( there used to be LOADS when I was a kid! I can think of at least 4 that are no longer open :(

Anyway, good luck!! Let me know if you find anywhere :)

Having got back into riding after a good 10 year break in Milton Keynes I can safely say I would not bother with places 1 and 3 listed by Chan as I rode at both and had rather dreadful experiences.

In fact after some detective work on my own posts have a look at the following;

http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/foru...9-Returning-to-Riding-Stressfull!-(LONG-POST)!!

I would also not touch the one at Peartree Bridge with a bargepole.

Unfortunately I didn't find anywhere very good and I moved down to Dorset not long after and have got a great share now which suits my needs perfectly.

One place I did go and look at but never rode at was Park Manor Farm near Newton Longville. I didn't book a lesson there in the end as my house move came forward quicker than expected. They have a lovely indoor and outdoor school, the ponies were very well looked after and everyone was very friendly. I would recommend at least going to have a look there as I was impressed.

I can well believe you had bad experiences at both of those places (especially Loughton - as I child I spent a year there and the fact I didn't die is nothing short of a miracle! And as an adult I went to have a ride and they let me do 3 strides of trot!!)

I really don't know how Loughton is still going..

Plum park has a very good rep, my daughter rode at Silverstone but I think
It can very much depend on child/instructor hitting it off, have heard others have not liked it there, as I say we got on ok.

Honestly Chellebean I would definitely go and have a look at Park Manor Farm, no-one has said anything derogatory on here about it and although I did not ride there I went for a looksie and watched a lesson and thought it was very good.

Chan - I don't think there's much chance of anyone dying at Loughton Manor, although I retract that statement because I nearly died of boredom being on the lunge!! I guess I was luckier than you as I managed a 20m circle in trot on both reins before being told to stop. I actually begged to have just a few strides of canter and was point blank refused. Well, it says it all in my post about it but the pics have gone as I changed my Facebook settings.

I was trying to remember the name of the one in Newton Longville! Haven't ridden there personally but have heard it has a good reputation.

Bryerly Springs is ok for kids who are learning or wanting to improve confidence but I wouldn't take lessons there to be honest having seen some of the instructors ride.

The last private lesson I had at Loughton (admittedly years ago) involved trotting round in circles for 45 minutes and having 'WHIP HIM' yelled loudly throughout. Not my cup of tea.

I travel out for lessons now to be honest.

I can't recommend a good school but another one who would suggest you avoid Loughton. I found them very rude and unhelpful on the phone as well as seeming a bit odd (suggested there is no hacking in MK for a start!)

As a child, all the ponies seemed to be wild D: it was scary and someone fell off each lesson. It was when I saw a kid get dragged - head bouncing off fence posts - that I asked my parents if I could leave.
It seems to have chilled out a little toooo much though!
