I am looking for a new riding school in the Milton Keynes area to start using towards the end of April.

For various reasons I'm unhappy but the main reason is attitudes of some people there and the amount of childrenwith very foul mouths. It puts me off going there and I always thought riding should be fun so i'm looking for somewhere nice and friendly where I won't feel intimidated.

I am happy to travel about 30 minutes each way from Milton Keynes as well.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Bit far for you maybe but Backnoe End in Thurleigh is fab, I had a few lessons there and although they didn't stretch my ability terribly, I really enjoyed them. Lovely people and nice horses, and nice facilities too.

What about Slapton, which is just south of Leighton Buzzard? Its probably about 30 minutes from MK, and Bury Farm EC is a pretty nice school.

Like all riding schools there are a lot of kids about, but since it doesn't do group lessons, there aren't great swearing flocks of them. The horses and ponies are nice enough and the facilities are fabulous.

Another vote for Backnoe - their school is lovely and their horses are spotlessly turned out and pretty well schooled. When I was starting to ride again after having a 4 year break when I had my son, I went there for several weeks and really enjoyed it (my horses are kept 80 miles from where I live so when I went back into horse ownership I had to get fit quite quickly and it just wasn't happening!!!)

Where are you currently at?
I have to say that I don't know of any particularly good ones in Milton Keynes. Glebe Farm Equestrian Centre at Bozeat is good (near Wellingborough) or Chapel Brampton but it's on the north side of Northampton.

I initially tried to go there but they said thye didn't have anyy slots available. They allocate slots to regular riders and until they get a free slot you can't go. At least thats what I got told by the lady on the phone. I'll admit I was quite confused by this.
