I'm looking to start up horse riding again and just wondered if anyone would recommend any of the following riding schools:

- Pook Lane
- Fort Widley

Or any other riding schools for that matter

Cheers :D

I organised a series of open days for the National Riding Festival a few years ago, and Quob, near Southampton was selected as the regional venue for that area. We chose them over and above a number of other local BHS approved stables because they had good facilities, staff and horses - and they were very proactive and enthusiastic.

Can't vouch for them other than that - but it's a start!

I've ridden at Fort Widley and would say it is great for novices but not for more experienced riders, the horses were lovely but a bit ploddy. I don't know Pook Lane. I would have a look at Crofton Manor, thats a good riding school.

Ahh cheers. I've tried Pinkmead before, it's a little bit far, was hoping to find somewhere I can get to easily. Will be easier once I've passed my driving test and get a car, then hopefully I can look at getting my own horse! Portsmouth is not a horse friendly city :p
