Riding schools within 20 miles Newmarket

Looking for somewhere with really good instruction and decent well schooled horses, preferably with indoor arena. Need an instructor who really works with the rider and cares, not just going through the motions! I am in my 60s and haven't ridden much in last few years (although have ridden most of my life plus owned and competed on my own pony in my teens) but am very fit and still want to try to improve plus do a bit of fun jumping/x/c. Does such a wonderful place exist and does anyone know what West Anglia College riding centre is like, because it looks excellent on the surface, with highly qualified instructors, yet I have not been able to find any opinions on it!!!

Going bury st edmunds way you have Barrow riding school which is a small village off the A14 between Bury and Newmarket. A place I would highly recommend is Bardwell Manor Equestrian centre, but that might be a little more than 20 miles. Both have indoor and outdoor schools.

I learnt to ride at Old Tiger Stables in Soham, they are really good, have some great instructors, indoor & outdoor schools.

Or my MIL had some lessons yet Barrow riding school which she enjoyed but did end up moving to another stables although I can't remember why.

More than 20 miles away from Newmarket but I am an older rider and I have lessons at Pine Lodge School of Classical Equitation in Norwich (you can google it) - they have very well schooled horses, lusitanos, and Sue who runs it is incredibly sympathetic to the older rider No indoor school but they are made of stern stuff and hardly ever cancel due to weather!

Arkledessie - you asked about the College of West Anglia. I've only done riding and road-safety training there rather than actual lessons. Their facilities are super, everyone from the reception staff to the yard grooms to the instructors went out of their way to be helpful to me, and they have a range of horses. The ones I rode were very steady and quite switched off, but then again the RI said they were typical of R&RS test horses, and we weren't doing anything stimulating . If I didn't have more horses to ride than I know what to do with I'd try them for lessons.

I've never heard a bad word about Hill Top near Yelling - it's been recommended to me lots and lots of times. Ditto Old Tiger.

Hall Farm near Waterbeach might be a possibility. I've had some superb private lessons there but some group lessons where I wished I hadn't bothered. I'd consider going back for private/ lunge lessons with Tessa.
