I'm off to the Lake District on hols soon. As my boy is restricted to doing walk work at the moment I thought I'd take the opportunity of finding somewhere that does beach or farm/ trail rides with the option of having a good canter to blow the cobwebs away.

I don't want to spend a fortune and would only really want a couple of hours, half day max as I'll be with non-horsey family and disappearing off for any longer than this is a bit antu-social!

Recommendations please!

Murthwaite Green Trekking Centre is fantastic, I did the 2hr beach ride last year and I enjoyed myself so much. My horse was absolutely wonderful and he did everything that I asked.
Cumbrian Heavy Horses looks great as well- they use the same beach as MG does I think.
ETA: Lots of galloping was involved!

yep, i can agree that Murthwaite is ace, took my non horsey boyfriend and we both rode on the beach ride together, sensible horses, good price- fun day :-)

There is Parkfoot trekking centre at pooley bridge too, I'm not sure how regularly they do fast hacks though as when we went we were trying out their ponies for winter loan. Worth an ask though.
