Can anyone suggest a good riding stables in the Longton area where my 5yr old niece can have lessons. She is not a beginner, and is trotting and catering off the leadrein. she has been going somewhere (won't say where) and I'm unhappy about it. Instructors don't make it fun for her and she simply does 20m circles, serpentines and walk trot and canter. There is no fun in it for her. We tried what used to be Longton Riding School at the weekend (now changed hands) but there were no lessons on which we could watch. also tried 'Club Equestrian' in Leyland which looks lovely, but strangely enough, don't do lessons at weekends. Mum and dad both work so she has to go at weekends. Oakfield still seems to have a bad reputation - is is still best to avoid, or is is better now ?? Also there is Becconsall farm at Tarleton, but I have heard nothing about this place. Is it any good?

I've just booked my 5yr old neice a lesson at http://www.elswickec.co.uk/ which she is having this weekend. £12 for half an hour individual lesson - will let you know how it goes. Might be a bit far out for you though?

she currently rides a small pony that a friend of my mum has, but they don't have an arena and she is desperate to come off the lead rein!

Yes, I had wondered about arkenfield. I worked there many years ago when it was Dover Lodge, but I see it has undergone quite a transformation since and looks fantastic. I will investigate further. thank you for that.

Im not too keen on oakfield either. I went to look at club equestrian but it is a bit posh for my liking. I love chorley equestrian centre. i might be a bit far for you but I love it there.
