There were two of you, one riding an appy, and they were being really well behaved about finding their way through some roadworks.
Can I suggest that you wear some hi viz? Even though it was lovely and sunny, the two of you were vanishing into the shadows, I didn't see you stopped half way through the roadworks and pulled right over to the side until I was only about 20 yards away from you. Pink shows up best in the sun.

I really hope these riders will see this. I might normally have talked to them, but that wasn't possible in the middle of road works. Lovely ponies. :-)

This is why I've bought myself a summer sheet for Ned too.
Since I've started driving, I've noticed how hard it is to see in very bright sunshine, especially in the morning. I almost didn't see a cyclist! I hope they see this and invest in some!

I'm sure they thought they would be very visible on a lovely sunny day, but the fact is that they were not. It's a busy stretch of road to ride on, one where those few extra seconds of visibility could be really important.

On these (unusually!) sunny days, when the sun is low in the sky it is very difficult to spot someone up ahead without hi-viz. It happened to me the other day, going down the lane to the yard where I was EXPECTING to meet riders (going nice and slowly), I came up upon someone and didn't even see them until I was right up their bum! (brown horse, rider wearing brown/dark clothes)

Even if she had been wearing yellow hi-viz I don't think I would have seen her as the sun was right in my eyes. That yellow colour is just the same as the leaves in the sunlight. If she had been wearing pink or orange she might have been a bit more visible from a distance.

Oooh you mentioning Ightham got my attention.

I spent many many happy days hacking through the Ightham Mote bridleway and the Fairlawn estate and through Plaxtol/Shipbourne.
Fairlawn estate was where I lost my darling TB in a terrible accident.

This post bought a lump to my throat even though it happened when I was 17 - so 21 years ago.

Sorry totally irrelevant to your post :o

Always wear Hi-viz :)
