So I’ve done a search but can’t find my answer - I’m intrigued by riding tights but I’ve always wondered ... aren’t they slippery? As in when you do sitting trot? I like a full seat or good grip. Also are the fabrics thick enough? I live in my Candela’s but thanks to living my best lockdown lazy life am now quite festively plump and don’t fancy shelling out Candela prices for a size up, just to fit into something whilst I drop the weight again. So if they’re not slippery what are your favourite high-waisted types? I don’t need phone pocket, but am on the shorter side at 5’4 so nothing too long ?

I got some grippy ones and I hated them the first time I rode in them, but I'm glad I kept using them as now they are my favourite thing ever! So comfortable!!

I love the Dublin ones too. They have a full seat so they are good for grip. During the summer i wear a pair (can't remember the brand) that are just like leggings so no grip but lovely thin material for the heat.

I wear Horsewear ones and wouldn't go back to wearing normal jods. They're pretty thick fabric and have a pocket on each leg, and they have mesh parts on to keep cool. I wear them in the winter as well, they're lovely. Avoid Aztec Diamond ones - slippery and very see-through ?

Riding tights are fab, there are plenty which have grips on the knees or on both the seat and knees.

I have various types, with various levels of grip, never found a pair particularly slippy.

thanks guys! Do you have favourite brands for those with full seat grip?

I like the Dublin ones but recently got a pair of Noble Outfitters and they're absolutely lovely, they only have knee grips but in answer to your question, no they're not slippery.
Noble outfitters and mark Todd. Todd ones don’t have pockets. Both high waisted, non slip, knee grip or full seat, and short!
Noble Outfitters definitely seems to be popular so I will take a look at them thank you!

I really don’t get on with grippy knees/bums! I have black heart equestrian and Aztec diamond leggings and neither have proper grippy bits and I don’t feel slippy. Also heard good things about laflex, they are next on my list.

I’ve had both good and bad! I got a pair of early Pikeur Candela with grip and I hated them, but early this year I got a pair of Cavalleria Toscana that I love. So was a bit concerned the tights might go down the route of the grippys I hated. I do prefer a suede seat over all though!

A thought..........I’ve found the silicon sticky on tights and breeches are beginning to damage my new saddle. Not in a major way but I am beginning to see changes in the surface of the seat area.
I found the same. Had to stop using them and back to using the suede seat ones (which are hard to find)

I found Aztec diamond ones really slippery. I don’t ride in them because of it! Flexars are good! No grips but you don’t need them due to the material. Same with black heart Equestrian. I’m interested in the ones that Gallop have brought out. They’re really reasonably priced at like £25! Not tried them yet though!

Boa ones are great value (£25?) and high waisted. I have some quite old Irideon ones that must be about 12 years old and they still look new, they have suede knees rather than silicone, they were about £60 then, not sure if you can still get them.

I've got some shires and Noble Equestrian but having just bought my first pair of Flexars they take it to the next level and are comfortable and so flattering, perfect for post lockdown podge hiding.

Big brother is definitely listening and now Flexars keep coming up in advertising everywhere around me! I do like the look of them ?

What's the difference between riding tights and pull on jodhpurs?

I find the very sticky silicone ones leave saddle marks. Also have had slight petachial hemorrhages on upper calf - not a riding issue, just a cosmetic one. Silicone really sticks, including to the leg.
