Aside from staying in the school, and having constant supervision in case of fainting etc - does anyone have experience of managing this rather embarrassing issue? How do I make it go away? Currently undergoing various tests, etc.

No nastiness please - trolls will be fed to the cats. Genuinely upset here, and my life is pretty much on hold currently because of this :(

oh hun.
To be honest if this is a sudden change i would be inclined to wait for test results. If its something you have had a while which has worsened again i would want to know why.
I have hypotension but its managed- its not random i know the triggers for it and get a good few minutes warning. I have to eat and drink regularly get up slowly etc. I don't find it effects me riding- i don't look down quickly.
There are days don't ride because i feel woozy.
Hope you get some answers quickly. From sounds of your post its happening randomly with no triggers so scary for you.
Ps if so presume your not driving at mo for your own safety!

Thank you. I don't drive, so that isn't an issue.

It started very recently, the past three weeks. Tends to occur on waking, and sometimes randomly when walking or so forth. Some days I am fine, others I can barely function! :(

Doctor has ordered bloods run, and I had an ECG yesterday. Have been told it may be linked to a virus I had, or possibly to my medication for my epilepsy. They are fairly sure the latter is unlikely, but are testing anyhow.

Feel rather useless: keep having to sit down!

I can't offer any real advice, but as above really... get those tests and try and find the cause.... those fainting attacks can be scary..

But please don't give up, and if you feel safe to do so and have a friend there to keep an eye on you, then have a little ride when you are able too... no shame in pottering round the school in walk...

I don't suffer fainting unless blood's taken, but do have low blood pressure. It's related to my hypothyroidism. I also go a bit dizzy when I first get up from lying down but it passes quite quickly on the whole. It's worse if I have a drink or two the night before, perhaps dehydration contributes?

Agree that it would be best to find the cause before trying anything testing. Wonder if flight socks might help in the meantime? I believe you can also get compression style pants* which might also help, if you can bend enough to get on board with them on!

Hope you find a solution soon, it must be making you very annoyed!

*edited to say I mean trousers rather than knickers!

Sorry to hear you are a sufferer it is a pain in the neck I am on blood pressure pills because I am diabetic but it means my blood pressure is very low as I dont actually need them my best help would be to make sure you eat and drink very regularly, and to make sure if you ride you are with someone. It can help if you have warnings to lower your head below your knees if you are riding this needs to be done very slowly and you need to get up slowly too so you need a sensible horse or pony. If you actually faint it is probably better not to ride until you have control over it. I find it distressing when coming up from poo picking, going through a fence or generally moving position too quickly but Mine isnt too bad and I haven't actually fainted yet just feel very woosy. Bath time can be a challenge too as the hot water makes me a bit wonky too
I hope you get to the root of the problem and are soon fixed there are so many life limiting things that most people dont or wont recognise

I had a bad case of what I thought to be stomach flu. It turned out to be a viral infection. Doctor reckons this to be connected.

hope that once you have fully recovered from the virus the hypotension will resolve Possible problem that may be related is labrynthitis, which will make you dizzy
