Hopefully off to a saddlery on Sat where I can "sell" my excess leather saddles and I *might* purchase a dressage saddle...

Now, they have a lot of second hands I can look at, but was thinking of maybe a new synthetic...

Problem is - the Wintecs aren't necessarily a good fit on my mare. Have tried a VSD with cair/adjustable gullets and it was not a good fit at all.

BUT the dressage one may be different? Would a flocked one be better than Cair?

OR is the Thoroughgood with FISH better? Designed by Richard Davison?

Costs are 270 flocked Wintec, 305 Cair Wintec, 285 TG Fish.

Feedback from those who have them would be appreciated!

Gee-gee is a med/wide to wide in saddles usually...

I have a wintec pro dressage, love it. I went for flocked as I think it gives you more 'feel', its been said theese air type saddles can affect the clairty of your seat aids. Not ridden on a Thorowgood, but looks wise I preffer the wintec - guess you'll have to go with the best fit.

Im not a fan of the fish system, i have seen it used really badly, if you saddle fitter is willing to sell you a fish saddle and fit it then fine, the R. Davidson ones are a decent cut, i bought a Wintec Dressage Pro and love it now. The quality is good enough for low level affiliated and my canter work has improved no end. The Isabel Worth version is even better but retails at around £450-£550.

If your horse has a flat back then stay clearn of the wintecs, have had two on two different horses and both perched. I loved my isabelle to sit in but it never fitted her very well, seems to be better on tb types.

At the risk of boring everyone......The Saddle Company.

They do a full synthetic dressage which is almost infinitly adjustable and isnt extortianate!

Aaahhh.... but they aren't sold by the place I'll be selling my saddles to!

Otherwise I would! Have a SC GP verona that I love, though it needs a little adjusting, but can't rind a fitter in my area!

I know the Wintec VSD really didn't fit so am thinking the dressage won't either.

Might try some second hand leather ones... Though the place is quite a distance away...

Now she's 3/4 TB but fairly wide, and does have wither and huge shoulders for her size... but the Wintec VSD just didn't sit down at the back and squeezed at the front, changing gullet no different.

I really like the look of the new T6 thorowgood saddle. Very leather looking. I hated the Wintec dressage, felt like I was riding the saddle and not the horse! Personally, if you can get a newly flocked secondhand leather saddle, would go with that...

Madam May has the Wintec one with Cair, the med/wide gullet sat it too low and it tipped forward slightly so have put the medium Gullet in it now and she seems very happy in it! (even with all the pink surrounding it
