I have bought a "proper" Irish Cob. mainly white with a few black patches, commonly known as a checketty (checkidy - various spellings) coloured horse here in Ireland. I have had him a month and i have never known a horse with so much coat. A furminator goes through but it is so thick he never looks "groomed". I do not want to clip this boy as he has had a lot of issues, trust being one of them. How do i groom him properly with such a thick coat, what tools do you use on your hairies? I dont want to rug him this year for the above reasons. He has severe "bog burn" on his feathers as he was turned out on very wet land, this is being addressed.
