My beloved Hunter Balmoral wellies have been butchered at the cobblers

I took them in because some material had frayed and the heel had started to flap

She said they would have no problem fixing them and I watched her rip away at all the remaining material (around the sole of the boot - hard to explain without actually showing you the boot!). They have basically done a sh*t job at gluing it back up and they are now in a worse state than they were when I took them in.
We did not pay and I'm off to complain later!

Sooo... I'm gonna need some new wellies / winter boots for on the yard. I have chubby little legs so I need a wider calf boot or ones with an adjustable gullet (is that the right word??). I would prefer longer boots that can keep my lower legs warm and dry!

Any suggestions are welcome! I'm pretty peeved that my boots have been ruined (they were £90!) as they are only a year old. They will probably last another couple of days on the yard at most

Luckily is my borthday in a couple of weeks so my parents might buy me some nice ones!

Hmm... well ive got some Muck Boots which are brilliant and so so warm

But ive got some hunters as well cos they look better! lol

so really depends if u care more about how they look or warmness! lol

I have muck boots. They are fantastic. Keep my feet lovely and warm and are very waterproof. Too chunky to ride in though! I paid about £40 for mine

For riding I have the toggi calgary boot. They look alot better than the muck boots and are really hard wearing and comfy. They are also waterproof! I have little legs and they come in a wide fitting.
I paid £72 for mine so bit more pricey but are good for both riding and yard work so I feel worth it!

I LOVE my Dubarry's and couldn't live without them now.

How about the neoprene lined Le Chemeau boots? I have a pair of those and they are extremely warm and comfy. You can get them with either a zip or an adjustable strap-thing and they have several different calf fittings. I haven't exactly got the skinniest calves but mine fit lovely.

I personally would avoid muck boots and all the ones I have had, or friends have had, have not lasted long before the neoprene wears through at the heel.

i have MAAHOOOSIVE calfs i've resorted to riding in short boots and chaps cause wide fitting boot are tiny lol!!! but i would 110% recommend muck boots

my friend calls them fat leg wellies he he :P very very warm too

I have muck boots ,went for the ones with a better grip on the bottom as I had the riding type ones before and found them very slippery in the mud .But perhaps we wont get any mud this year !

I have the Ariat Mudbuster wellies which are fab. Neoprene lined, so super warm and have a proper gullet (if thats the word) for those with wider calves (such as myself).

Only had them a year, but have had a hard time as I've used them for work too (trogging round fields, marshes, ditches on site visits). And they are good for riding too, have a proper heel, and a slim fit. They are a lot like hunters, but warmer and better
