....after much research, I've decided that a French bulldog is just too much money! None of the others excite me as a breed.

I don't want a 'boring' dog, but I don't want something that is so hyper it never stops.

So i've decided to go for the dog that I originally wanted a year ago - a staffie!

Yes I know that I'll look like a chav but I've always wanted one and will try and rescue a puppy (still don't want an adult dog).

Thank you all for your help.......I'll hopefully start looking in Feb so will keep you all updated!

Well done for considering taking on a rescue, along with GSDs they are one of the most frequent breeds in rescue.

Although I hate to say it they *can* be high energy dogs, but I am sure you will search thouroughly to find the perfect one for you.

Yep agreed, some can be highly strung but I'm in no rush!

This way I get to rescue but would still get something under 6 months old....I just don't want an adult rescue unless something worms it's way into my heart (which is highly probable!)

My OH owns two staffs - both female, one is a 5yo, the other I think is just under 3 - I can never remember!

They're nutty cows but so adorable and obedient too.

Good luck in your search, I hope you find the perfect dog for you.

I spent aaaages researching and looking at breeds, and decided a greyhound or lurcher would be perfect. Then I walked into the rescue centre and came away with a spaniel

Despite all appearances to the contrary I wouldn't swap him

The right one will pop up for you too, might be nothing like what you thought you were after but it will be the right dog!

Something similar happened to my aunt. She went to the RSPCA looking for a female Westie, and came away with a very bouncy male Border Collie.

I never expected to own a pug, but there you go. Selecting the "right" breed is evidently own of life's more complex challenges for many of us

I think Staffs are great. So many of the bull breeds have similar personalities, that really, you sort of will be getting a Frenchie, only with a bit more pep.

and me I was forever putting people off getting a JRT and I vowed never to get another JRT x let alone a so called pure JRT, as I am typing this my JRT puppy has clamboured onto me and it is sitting on my boobs watching me type this out and trying to kiss me.
