Had a lesson yesterday. Really enjoyed it and actually enjoyed riding in the school for once :)

However my right leg is mis behaving. My left one is fine. Stays still on the girth etc but my right one tends to creep back ...

Stirrups same length etc, it just has a mind of its own. Any ideas/exercises I can do to retrain my wayward leg :)

I'm very right sided so my left leg is a struggle to get right when turning or any movement which requires me to apply pressure from the left.
I've been doing Alexander technique lessons to make me more body aware. Apart from that once you are aware of what you are doing you will start correcting it. Also check your seat bones are even and your hips in line. Although you are identifying the problem with your lower leg the origin of the problem may lie higher up in hips and shoulders. Thought I was reasonable well balanced until I started riding lessons ..then the truth came out. Best of luck. T.

Most issues with feet / legs / arms / hands are actually a reflection of what is happening with your core. It might be that you have a misalignment in your spine or pelvis which a chiropractor will be able to spot and deal with.

I struggle with my left leg, its seems to move forward, I have also had problems with that hip in the past few years and found that my left leg is about 1.5 cms longer than the right but when I was sent for x-rays on my hips the lady said that they are nice a straight, however, I beg to differ and when I'm sat on my horse there is no way that I'm sitting straight! my left leg defo doesnt sit as far back as my right!

Thanks both of you. Will get myself checked out. I'm left handed to tend to be left sided. I do sit a certain way at work with all my pressure on my right foot so I prob am a bit wonky in my pelvis :0

I was thinking of tying my right stirrup to the girth to re train it that way!! Kerrieberry I'm off to get a tape measure and measure my legs!!

Yes..same here but in reverse. My right hip pushes me onto my left seat bone and also tends to be further forward as it's stronger and less flexible.
