Hi Guys!:)
I have a 9 year old 14.2hh cob type. He has this really anoying problem which has came about in the last year or so. He is great on the left rein in all movements! When on the right however he cannot canter straight without pulling into the centre of the school, especially at the top right corner. I use my left rein and push with my right leg, which just results in him going side ways! I've tried leg yelding but dosnt seem to get me anywhere! Can someone help as i am really getting frustrated with the situation!
Thanks xx

Have a look at him moving on the right rein on the lunge. See if he is moving straight or if his feet aren't tracking up. He might be stiff through his back ot sore in some way. If not just put some poles on the inner track to focus on, start by keeping him straight down the long side and then bring him back to trot, then build it up from there.

He is falling in through the right shoulder which probably means you have not got him bending laterally to the right. You need to open out your left rein and (surprisingly to many) use more right rein towards your belly button to block his right shoulder, keep the right bend, and stop him falling through, as well as as a strong inside leg on the girth.

If this is a new problem then it probably means he has some pain or stiffness somewhere.

I'd suggest u get his back checked. My horse went rather crooked in canter no matter what i did when i rode her i couldn't get her straight, so had hers checked by a very good massage lady and she found her right hip was completely blocked up so no wonder she was so crooked!!
Definitely worth having it checked!
