Right Wormer for this time of the year?

At my yard we worm every other month, last week we all did a Panacur 5-day wormer - sorry I'm not sure what worms that protects against.

In winter it is important that you worm for red worm particularly encysted rw chich will not show up in any tests. They are the most common cause of winter colic. Panacur 5 day is very good for this but i don't usually give until December.

You should also worm for BOTS - but do not worm for BOTS until AFTER FIRST FROST. There are newer wormers which will do redworm and BOTS in one dose. Ask you merchant which ones.

You should worm for tape worm late spring and early autumn but give double dose OR ask your merchant which ones will do the job with a single syringe.

I would chose Pramox or Equimax at this time of year.

We've just done our autumn Pramox dose. A couple of weeks late as it was supposed to be October, but never mind. In three months we will worm count to see if we need to give them the normal Equest, then another three months until another Pramox dose. Three more months until another count and/or Equest, then we're back around to next October/November! Easy peasy!

equest paromox will kill everything bar neck thread worms but they are not that harmful. this time of year you want to be worming for red worms enysted tapes and bots!
