Horses that show stallion behaviour, e:i mounting mares are they classed as a rig?? or can a blood test say otherwise?? the horse keeps mounting other mares and is just being a pest, so the vet has done a blood test and the result is "he is not a rig"... so the vet has said to pop the horse on a calming supplement like magnitude... what are your experience's or advise on rigs, and can a blood test really determine this???

To me a Rig is a horse that hasn't been castrated completely, either because one or both testicles are hidden,or because it wasn't done properly. These horses will show positive results on blood testing. Geldings that show stallion-like behaviour but who do not still have the offending hormone are sometimes called false rigs.
