a lady has put me in contact with a lady who had a lovely sounding horse who would be ideal to be a companion for abby. but the horse has ringbone.

i have never had to deal with ringbone before so could someone who has had a horse with it explain it to me a little?? i have asked the lady what action needs to be taken with her problem still waiting to hear back tho. in her first message she says she is not overly lame with it but has to wear shoes all the time

pm me if you prefer

I had a horse with ringbone and she was better without shoes. It will all depend on where the ringbone is situated and what works for each horse. We gave mine a supplement and some cider vinegar but I don't think that really did much tbh. She had some good days and some bad days with it and on the good days she could manage some very light hacking. We did find that by keeping her weight right down helped a lot and, being a cob, took some doing but it made a difference.

Mine has ringbone in both pasterns and unfort will always be lame, shes on bute for arthritis but the ringbone has fused so she will never be able to be ridden.

shes only young but it was neglect from previous owners, in general shes a very happy bunny (always pleased to see me and will trot to the gate on good days) Her shoes are off and maintenance for her is just her bute, a trim (no shoes) and some cuddles!
