Hi
My horse was diagnosed with ringbone about 7 weeks ago.
In total he has had about 3 months off due to being lame.
Xrays also showed his pasterns being at the wrong angle which is resulting in him weight bearing on the outsides of his feet, so he is having remedial shoeing to try and fix this.
He has had his 1st set of bar shoes on for 5 weeks (farrier is coming next week to re-do them)
I lunged him on grass (out of curiosity) last week and he was very sound! When I asked him to walk he wanted to trot, when I asked him trot he wanted to canter. And he was doing exteneded trot and bucking too! I trotted him up on concrete 2 days ago and he was still sound and very full of himself.
My question is, do I need to give him more time off even though hes sound? I have text the farrier explaining that he is now sound and he said he will look at him next week when he comes. Not only is he now sound but he loves his work and is currently getting fat and mischievious in the field.
I understand he will need walking and nothing else to begin with, but even this is better than having an overweight, naughty cob!
