Horse has developed a lump on pastern, Vet says probably ringbone,. My question is, why do horses seem to develop bony enlrgements after a knock ( this is on front of pastern
and appeared practicaly overnight. If we get a knock it usually results ion a soft swelling that goes down, we dont get permanent lumps, well I dont !

I cant answer your question but my last horse had ringbone and over about a year the lumps grew to the size of golf balls. They were at the side of the pastern though on all 4 legs and werent the result of a knock.
