i bought a horse 7 months ago with false ringbone. He is 18 years old but apart from this one leg he is in great condition. He has jumped the hickstead derby and puissances at olympia so he has done his fair bit in his life. The past couple of days he had been quite short on it. He is happy to gallop around the feild though. However there is a new lump on front of the his leg around the fetlock area could this be the ringbone ? i know i should call the vet but to be honest im scared because they arent excatly going to come back with good news. He seems happy enough though and iv done a bit of reserch and iv read that NAF Five Star Superflex Liquid and Dodson & Horrell Devils Claw Root are really good to help these conditions. Has anyone had experince with these products or with the symptons my horse has ? do you think i should just face it and call the vet ?
thanks x

First of all I know how you feel, I had only had my horse for 6 months when he was diagnosed, he is only 11. I personally would get the vet out, it could well be something else and if it were me I would want to know. You can then be advised on treatment.

My horse has it in both coffin joints, he has had steroid injections 3 weeks ago and he is a changed horse. He is a heavy cob and he leads in like a thoroughbred. Hope it's not bad news for you, good luck.
