One of my horses has ringworm, either that or rain scald, but as she has been on a yard that has had ringworm suspect it is that? Does anyone know of any good treatments? Or is it a case of getting something off the vet?

isolate. imaverol spray for horse. virkon e for all surfaces, equipment. canestan does ok on specific circles. do not work the horse and make it sweat as the ringworm will spread big time! grisol v granules can be put in feed. but both apart from virkon e are POM so i would suggest you call your vet. sunlight is also very good. do not touch another horse until you have washed your hands/arms/face in something suitable and changed your clothes. tho on a happier note ringworm, whilst unsightly, is self limiting.

The easiest and fastest way to get rid of ringworm is good old plain vinegar. Kills it as soon as it is applied! You can also wash your tack with it.

Horses generally if in good condition are immune to ringworm, youngsters might get it but they do build an immunity to it.

Calves that have wintered in might be covered in it but within a week of being out on grass it clears up.

The best stuff for ringworm is Nizerol shampoo - you can buy it at the chcemist.

Dilute in hand hot water and lather up well working well into affected area and well beyond as fungus spreads by ejecting spores outwards so the area grows. Leave to dry.

You can also use it to wash grooming kit and saddlery. You can also add Canestan In wash to the rinse cycle of the machine.
