Ringworm?

My horse has a few patches of flakey skin under her saddle patches. I just looked it up and it sounds like she has ringworm - the vet is coming at 4 today, but I was wondering if this will have any affect on her ridden work? It doesn't seem sore, but having time off could pose a big problem because I have a 5 day sponsored ride at the end of July so I need to get her really fit! Obviously if she needs time off she'll get it but..what do you think?

You don't need time off for ringworm unless it is really sore. Is unusual to have only under the saddle though - could it be due to a wet/sweaty numnah? Or a badly fitting saddle?

If it is ringworm, you will need to isolate her as it spreads like wildfire. Good news is that it goes quite quickly with the right treatment.

You'd probably have it yourself by now if it was ringworm.

Not always, a horse at my yard had it and no other horse or person go it despite us kissing his poorly nose (before we knew what it was)

Sorry, I'm no expert, I'm just speaking from my own personal experience, me and my dad are like ringworm hotels.

its abit awkward if it is as you will need to isolate your horse to stop it spreading to other unafected horses. you will need to disinfect your grooming kit and rugs and numnahs and i would clean your saddle. hope its not ringworm as its a pain.

I thought merlin had ringworm last summer...... little bald patches (I know it doesnt always present like that though).... then thought it might be rain scald... again not that typical.

But it turned out to be one of the other horses that kept on biting him.... they really didnt look like bites
