Can anyone advise the best treatment for ring worm? Very small area at the moment say a 5p piece so want to nip this in the bud asap. Someone has suggested using treatments that are for use on humans? I wouldnt have thought this would be strong enough?

Any ideas of a fast, strong treatment

Thanks

I got stuff off my vet when my boy had it.Someone posted a while back that you could use canneston but I haven't tried it so can't say as to whether it works

caneston is good....we had cows at the yard last year and my mare got a touch of it on her neck, i instantly started slapping that on and it went....then i got it!!!! Dr's diagnosed it as ringworm, i had something stronger though as it was on my leg (back of my thigh - how it got there i dont know) and i didn't notice for a few days so it was already quite big...yuk

Lol alsxx, I have caught it also but on my boob of all places!!!!! How the hell it got there I really have no idea lol. At least no one can see it I suppose!

I will give he Canesten ago then as looked into some of the veterinary treatments and they seem extreamly harsh so would rather avoid these in first instance

Thanks for your help all!

I managed to get ringworm on my foot and lower leg, nothing seemed to shift it until I had chemotherapy for breast cancer!lol!

P.S not a treatment I would recommend ,but not as bad as you 'd think.

Tea tree oil works on it. I think you can buy human stuff in the chemists as well. I caught it from a Horse and tea tree got rid of it (I diluted it in aloe vera gel).

Hmmm thigh not as bad as boob! It is bizarre how it ends up in rather odd places...

You should scrub the stable out, and wash brushes, rugs etc also. I kept her in a full neck fleece rug and once it was gone that got washed a couple of times. Hasn't come back, and that was beginning of september.

white vinagar. wash ned in white vinagar and bath area twice dailey in it.

Disinfect everything else.. including yourself. Hibiscrub yourself in theshower is a good idea.

Hi
Treated my horse with Imaverol you can buy it on line it is for cattle and horses not at all dangerous to humans. Need to follow instructions on bottle and wash all tack, rugs ect in the solution as well or it may come back . It lives in the stable and on fences for a long time. After the ringworm had died i sprayed face with Aloe Vera Veterinary Liquid to help hair re growth . Avoid other horses as it spreads very quickly we avoided shows for a good month and even then told people not to touch her .I did not get it but i agree Hibiscrub should help u or the chemist will prescribe for you . Do not delay it spreads very quickly.

2nd the Canesten, ringworm is the same as athletes foot but just in different places - clears it up in a week or so.
