Hi All,

Has your horse ever had it?

Has a horse at your yard had it and did it spread?if so, how bad?

Has anyone ever heard of putting 6 pints of milk inside the horses gut to get rid of or reducing the risk of your horse getting it?

What treatment did you use?

Did you go out competing if your horse had it or a horse on your yard had it?

If you have anything else to add comments welcome :D

Thanks,
Kelly

Has your horse ever had it? - yes two of my horses had it and it is a pain in the arse because you have to wash EVERYTHING and I mean horse, rugs, tack, stable etc - throw out all bedding, creosote (sp) stable, fencing the lot.

Has a horse at your yard had it and did it spread?if so, how bad? Yes it spreads like wildfire - and any mammal including humans can catch it easily too.

Has anyone ever heard of putting 6 pints of milk inside the horses gut to get rid of or reducing the risk of your horse getting it? No and I would assume this could be very difficult and probably not very good for the horse to ingest cows milk as they are an adult horse...

What treatment did you use? Call vet and get medicine - scrub everything with Jeyes Fluid.

Did you go out competing if your horse had it or a horse on your yard had it? If you have it do not go out competing - it is extremely selfish and if someone sees the sores you could end up getting thrown bodily off the land by very angry farmers with large shotguns....

Yes my horse had it and we used itrafungal from the vet works brilliantly! She caught it from a horse who came back from a breaking yard! I did not compete as hers was nasty and spread all over her flank and also needed antibiotics! As said remember to disinfect everything. No have never heard of milk treatment :)
