New horse came and looked like he had a few patches of hair missing, ( i had thought prehaps bites of horses) as thats what it looked like. But now had got a couple of outbreaks of like blisterd skin and has one like a ring around his eye. (can upload a photo if anyone wants to see)

What would you do to treat it? Unfortantly hes already been in field for 2 weeks with my one so going to leave them together so not to spread it about. Had read not to go with stuff vets give out as not strong enough and anti biotics dont help? Had heard white vinegar? true or false? Vet is comming tue to do his teeth anyways

Ok will go down to boots tommorow.. had also read atheletes foot cream? or would canesten be better?

Thankyou

Athletes foot cream includes the base ingredients of caneston, and a steroid, to relieve the itch, so I'd be cautious about using a steroid on the face.

Hope that helps.

Thanks thats brill.. i have the vet comming out to do his teeth so someone said to get imarverol (sp) would that be better or would canneston do same job for half price?

Its on his face so wont use the athletes foot cream

Honestly why waste your money and pay for meds when vinegar works faster than anything else?

I had a large area of ringworm appear on my arm after moving some calves - I was told about the vinegar and rubbed some on my arm - did the same when I got home about 3 hours later and it was gone the next morning not a sign of it.
Since then I have used it.
At one place horses were treated with creams and something in their fed, others did the vinegar and those that were cleared faster than those under the vet.

Did you dilute or put it on straight? Would it be worth putting it in a spray bottle and spray everywhere not just infected areas? And also the wood in the stable he's been in? Thanks in advance

I just put it on a sponge and scrub that over the horse and will do it all over.
You can spray the woodwork with it easily enough. I usually use creosote.
Tack can be washed with the vinegar.
I use it neat.

Just bear in mind that vinegar doesn't work by poisoning the fungus, but by making conditions acidic so that it cannot survive. So you need it neat and do not wash or brush it off.
