Do dogs get ringworm? Im assuming they can!

My boy has something that looks like ringworm, scabby flaky skin in 3 small patches about the size of a ten pence piece. Hair comes away when you pull it. But not near each other. Looks like ring worm like you get in horses. Bitch has no signs at all.

I cant find any signs of fleas.

Yeah dogs get ringworm and you (plus other pets) can all get it too so wash your hands well after touching your dog and avoid touching the affected areas. Its easily treated so you need to get him down to the vets for a diagnosis (we usually take a hair pluck and grow it on an agar type plate, diagnosis can take up to 10-14 days). As i say, in the mean time carry out general hygiene.

My 1st horse had ringworm and my daughter had it when she was 3 yrs old, but I have 3 dogs and they have never had it. It would be interesting to see if they do get it.

Yeah!!! Thought so!!! I'll get him checked out! Thanks!

Once treated, how long before he is not contagious? Just need to know as he goes hydrotherapy swimming and dont want to risk passing it on, even if not ringworm.

But God knows how I will treat the cat!!!!!!
