It was very quick and peaceful for her, she had a bucket of sixteen plus mix before hand with extra apples, carrots and polos. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off me. We got some lovely photos and video clips of her grazing in the field. Thankyou so much everyone for all your thoughts xxxxx

this one ???

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Once again, I am so sorry for your loss, but she went the best way, full of good grub and surrounded by love - the way they should pass on.

Another one to join the herd, waiting for us to join them and all be in perfect peace, happiness and rest.

Remember the good times, cherish the memories and the pain will fade, though they are never forgot.

I'm ok today, just feels very weird without her, i went up to yard this morning to see my friends mare as her and amy were very pair bonded so wanted to check she was ok. It was horrible going onto yard and not seeing amy's head over stable door, i burst into tears. It also feels really strange tonight not going up to yard after work, keep thinking i'm dreaming it all and if i go up she'll be there. I'm glad i went to work today as sort of took my mind of it a little bit. It's going to be hard sorting all her stuff out and clearing her stable out but not going to do that just yet. My friend's mare is ok, we've put my other friends gelding in with her so she's following him around but she's quiet. We let her sniff at amy once she had gone but she wasn't interested and when they put amy down we had her in field adjoining it and she just carried on eating. I know that she can pick up on all the sadness around the yard but we're keeping in her normal routine xxxx

I don't know what happened here/the history but I wanted to send you my sympathies and say how sad I am to hear this. Losing an animal literally breaks hearts. I think you are a very strong person to be going to the yard and facing up to things. I feel for you. xxx

RIP Amy huge ((hugs))
I found this poem a while ago, I can't even read it, as it makes me cry, but i think it sums up this time for all of us who have and will have to make this decison :

If It Should Be....

If it should be that I grow weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle cannot be won.

You will be sad, I understand;
Don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day more than all the rest,
Your love for me must stand the test.

We've had so many happy years -
What is to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer so;
The time has come, so let me go.

Take me where my needs they'll tend
And please stay with me until the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time that you will see
The kindness that you did for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Please do not grieve - it must be you
Who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years,
Don't let your heart hold back its tears.
