From New Zealand Press (link wont work)

Mark Todd's Beijing Olympic horse Gandalf has died.

The 11-year-old grey has had to be put down because of a serious neurological disorder.

Gandalf has recently suffered seizures which saw him become blind in his right eye and a danger to himself and his handlers.

Todd returned to eventing after an eight year retirement in 2007.

He formed a successful partnership with Gandalf, which ultimately saw them qualify for last year's Olympics where they finished 17th out of 70 competitors.

How very sad.

Traipsed across Gatcombe to their dressage arenas (quite a hike) especially to see him as my daughter didn't see Toddy when he was previously riding as she was too young. Gandalf was beautiful even if he didn't do the best test.

RIP Gandalf.
