RIP Josh Gifford

That is sad news :( he was a good trainer and had some wonderful horses. A friend of mine who is now incapacitated following a really bad kick spoke fondly of him some years ago as he worked for him during the Aldaniti days. RIP Josh x

A wonderful trainer and one so emotionally involved with his horses.
Condolences to his family. He will be much missed.

RIP Josh

Very sad to hear this. Had the pleasure of meeting Josh at his Open Day years ago. A very kind, genuine man. Saw Aldaniti that day too. An excellent jockey and trainer, and he is a great loss to racing. My thoughts and condolences to his wife and son and daughter, Nick and Tina. Rest In Peace Josh x

Such sad news, but what a wonderful part of racing history he created & leaves in his memory. I was lucky enough to ride out for Josh, from when I was a very young girl of just 13 ...and have a wonderful horse today, thanks to his giving a little girl a very big chance all those years before & allowing me into the big scary world of racing...Learnt so much there and my obsession with TB's began there..I'm sure he'll be out on heavens gallops before long, with all those wonderful horses he has trained..Rest in Peace Gov x

So sad he did not recover but he died at home I guess with his family but too young, he was a great trainer and in a sport alot of people dont understand unless they are directly involved with horses opened there eyes as to why it is a truly inspiring sport.

With the national win of Aldaniti it inspired the nation for all sorts of reasons not least because of the jockeys illness, it was an uplifting story that I for one will not forget, it is slushy heart wrenching, cheesy at times but it is true and makes you realise that with belief and true human will that dreams and fairy tales can come true I can still remember the commentator saying if they won it would be a fairy tale or something of the sort.
You could never write such a good story horse and jockey down and out but many trainers would have never given them the chance to return as a team,. this story is maybe more relevant because of a certain dressage horse maybe there are horses who need a certain partner to achieve that ultimate goal or maybe there is just a mutual love and understanding that allows them to do this together and maybe Josh Gifford recognised champion and aldaniti could do this so not only was he a very good trainer he could see and believe what for most was just a fairytale one that still has us believing what he could see was true.
R.I.P. Josh Gifford Aldaniti will be waiting to greet you.

Sad news, I went to one of his open days when he had aldaniti there and treasured the day. He seemed like such a genuine person with a lovely family.

What a genuine, heartfelt and wonderful tribute to J_G on the Morning Line programme, this morning.

I didn't realise that he was still comparatively young at 70. Indeed, a great loss.

Alec.
