Huge congrats Magic!!! What a beautiful baby and a credit to mum and dad!!!

Regards KCG - I believe an announcement was made that he had some sort of heart attack...

Thanks eventrider, I am being informed he is a corker & this was from Tubby Ivans nephew! Everyone has been very nice and I can't wait to see all the others that are due. Despite what some think there are plenty of small & larger breeders who take a lot of care about what they are breeding & its future.

Magic I have now worked out who you are... taken me long enough! Many congratulations on your new arrival, and I was judged many a time by Tub Ivens, always found him very fair.

Thanks Chrissie. Yes he was even more so when he graded my mare (when I was breeding the first time round) at Malvern, LOL. I never thought I would end up at his nephews yard! It is a small world & the equine world is even smaller.

:D He graded the grand dam of the horse in my sig at Malvern too! Small world as you say. and another at Johnsons in Staffordshire when they had the likes of Bold As Brass, now I am going back into the mists of time aren't I?

What a lovely mare! And, the proof of the pudding to me, such good stock, and that is the essence of breeding isn't it, what is produced at the end of the day?

From his FB page -
'We have now had the official post mortem results for King Cotton Gold, and his death unfortunately remains a mystery. Personally I just think that no horse who gave so much all the time could possibly... go on for long and I think it was just that my time with him had come to an end. I still miss him terribly, but I have a plan which I hope will mean he won't be forgotten.
I never expected that King Cotton Gold would breed the next Olympic champion, but I always thought he would breed horses that could possibly help young riders become the next Olympic champions, and as such, I am hoping to use the remaining frozen semen to breed the perfect young riders mounts. I don't plan to sell any, but rather to donate them to talented young riders who perhaps don't have the finances to buy top class horses in their teenage years. Not entirely sure how we will fund their production yet, but hey, lets worry about that later!!
The second legacy which I believe he leaves is the belief that even us riders who are not exactly in our first flush of youth, can significantly improve our riding with the right tuition. I do think we owe it to our horses to continue to improve through out of riding lives and when I think how badly I rode King Cotton Gold, especially at the begining and how much I learnt with him, I have made a comitment to continue to keep learning even now he has gone, so my other horses can benefit from what I will learn. As such, I'm going to record my journey with Dryfe Royal Cavalier (hopefully to 1* and beyond) and my 5 yo Opposition Eclipse on the www.myrentalhorsebox.com blog. I wondered if anyone else was willing to get involved.
I'm really keen to hear from anyone who wants to choose a goal in any equestrian discipline - dressage, showing, driving, hacking who cares!! - and write in the blog about what they are doing. I appreciate it may feel like a rather public way to humiliate yourself, but I'd love some help in my quest! Anyone game? I'm also hoping that all the KCG fans can gives loads of support and advice to help us on our way. Let me know, or forward this on to anyone who you think is up for the challenge'
