Lola took a turn for the worse yesterday. She hadn't eaten her tea, didn't want to go for her walk and late last night had diarrhoea that was pretty much all blood.

She passed heaps of blood again this morning and was very down in the dumps, although that lovely tail continued to wag everytime we spoke.

We rang the vets who were absolutey wonderful, the best vets I have ever used, they said to bring her straight in. The vet said it sounded like Lola had some sort of tumour and given our previous decision to have her put to sleep on Tuesday the decision was made not to let her spend a miserable three days and she fell asleep for ever with her head on OH's lap this morning.

We have brought her home as OH wants to bury her in the garden, he is out there now furiously digging. Mum and dad are on there way for a visit and will be gutted that they didn't get to say goodbye to their favourite, but we had to do what was right for Lola.

I am thinking of all of you who are in the same boat today, I know how you are feeling and am sending huge hugs your way.

RIP Lola and also to her fellow HHO canines.

Goodnight God Bless Lola. She looked to be a lovely girlie.I lost my RB last year and know what you are going through. Know that you did the right thing for your best friend even though it is one of the hardest things you will ever have to do. Hugs to you and your family. J x

So sorry you didn't get your last weekend together, but in the circumstances you have done the right thing by Lola and that's what counts most.

Hugs to you and RIP Lola

MrsElle,

very well done on two counts. Firstly that you've done the right thing for Lola, but secondly, and of equal merit; you've considered others who are in the same boat. When we're wrapped up in our own sorrow, considering others, in the same plight doesn't always come naturally.

Respect.

Alec.

So sorry you didnt get to spend those last few days together but you have done what was best for the beautifula Lola.

It was so kind of you to think of others in similar circumstances when your own heart was breaking.

God only takes the bestest ones! :) I have to admire you for doing what was best for your Lola, she would thank you for it! she was lucky to have you, my thoughts are with you xxx RIP Lola xx (fab name btw ;) )

Rest in peace Lola, it is so hard to say goodbye, but you will remember her with so much love

There is sorrow enough in the natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
But when we are certain of sorrow in store
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and sisters I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.
