For those of you who haven't seen my post in the vet section. Minski my 30 yo appy has been off her food and relutant to move since Saturday. After various treaments and tests. She has not improved and was even more relutanct to move this morning so after 22 years of owning her she has been pts today. I have spent the day with her until the vet came.

At least she is no longer suffering. As awlful as it is having her pts it was worse watching her suffer.

RIP Minski.

I'm so so sorry, RIP Minski. She is running free now with no achey old bones and I'm sure will be enjoying the sunshine and lovely green grass up there.
Massive hugs xxx

I'm so sorry to hear this sad news, but good on you for being brave enough to make the right decision for your horse. I recently had to have my 26yo mare PTS in similar circumstances, and like you, I had had her 22 years, so I know how hard it is to make that final decision, even if you know that ultimately it is the correct and most humane thing to do.

It is terribly sad now, but hopefully the pain of her passing will slowly fade enough for you to remember the happy memories of her, rather than dwelling on the sadness of her death.

RIP, so sorry for you but as someone said to me when I lost my mare, at least you loved her enough to let her go.

You were with her at the very end and you should be proud of that. My best friend had her pony put to sleep three weeks ago, zilly was 37 but she'd been adored and spoilt for all of her retirement, and how many horses get that chance.

Big hugs xxxx

Aw, that is so sad. I am really sorry to hear that. Is that her in your sig? She looks beautiful.

So sorry to hear that, but you have done the right thing and at least with horses you can do that for them, it's a hard decision but a good one. Hope that you start to feel better soon, it takes a while I know, but she is in the right place at the right time.

It is so hard to have to do this, but she had you there for her to make the hardest but best decision. You can't express your love in any greater way than to let them leave before it gets too much.

RIP Minski

Thanks everyone for the kind messages and PMs. I have just got back from checking how Kai is coping. Minski has looked after and kept Kai in check since I got Kai as a foal 7 years ago and they were very attatched. She was still with Minski's body when we got there. But she is settled and eating now and OH will check her again tonight.

It was a beautiful day for her and she went peacefully which is all I can ask really.

Hoping this was my number 3 for the year and I'm up to my quota for the year. Lost my Dad in January, my job in February and now Minski in April.

Here is my favourite picture of her, brings back good memories.
