As I type this the tears are coming thick and fast. See Mo you were taken from us too soon. You were a wonderful man, you always liked to please the rider. You gave me confidence to do more and more things. Do you remember our trips to the beach, we would gallop down the beach and you would give little bucks of excitement. For you will never experience that again, never again will you taste the sweetness of a polo or apple.

For that terrible man took you mo. He said he was helping us, he was suppose to be family. But he slaughtered you, its something i cant live with. He told the police that you were in bad condition, we both know thats untrue. For you were my life and I treated you like so.

However i wont let him off with it, for you Mo im seeing this through. I cry harder when i think how scared you must have been. I was physically sick when the police said he took you to the meat man. Mo you were only 8 and you never did anyone wrong.

Your brother and sisters have gone to a new home too, he told the police they went to an auction in toomebridge. Id give anything to have you back with me, you and all your brothers and sisters running happily in a field like before. Rest your head Mo, because darling you did nothing wrong, it was mummy who trusted that man and i let you down. Im so very sorry, i truely am. For i have to live with this now and I just cant handle it. You were one in a million Mo, and i will never ever ever forget you

I am so sorry to hear this, no-one and no-horse deserves to go through this. Please try not to beat yourself up, everything you did was with the best intentions. I hope the police take this very seriously.
 
I just cant believe it, i feel so sick about it all. What makes it worse is that the 3 that went to toome, my cousin would have been there at the time. All along she was coming to my house and being nice. Also he was coming to our house and getting livery money!!

Police are taking it seriously, they were crying themselves when i showed a picture of him. They talked to our vet who vouched that the horses were in excellent condition and were definitely ours. The police said that the vet said that he never knew anyone like me, that my horses were my children and i was always on the phone about something.

The guy told the police that Mo got a leg injury, vet confirmed that he didnt while in my care. He got a mere £120 for mo and apparently £500 for the other 3. Toome fair here is like a travellers auction place. I feel sick that they might of gone to bad homes. They say times a healer but there is no way i will get over this. My horses were everything to me, i always put them first. They were suppose to be family!!

This is going to court and im going to make them pay.
 
Do the auctions have addresses for the new owners , why do you think one was killed? You seem to be refering to just one horse being killed and the others going to new homes.
I think this is a strange and terrible thing to happen but don't quite understand it.

You must be going through hell; Don't let it rest, get the b*****ds. Keep us updated and if there is anything we can do?
 
Dont want to get your hopes u but it is just possible that he is lying about taking your boy to slaughter. Not sure how you would find out for sure but deffo worth looking into
 
OMG, So very sorry for you and your beautiful boy.

A lot of us I am sure would like to get hold of this truely evil man and do something to him. He will get his comeuppance one day in his miserable life you can be sure , because he probably does terrible things to other people too, (that you don't even know about) and people like him have a lot of enemies.
I hope you can get him legally too.

We are all on your side and hope our spirits can support you emotionally.
On a practical note maybe as The_Carthorse says, you can find out from the Auctioneers the address of the purchasers as they have effectively bought stolen horses.
Perhaps if you could get one back it would help ease your pain.
Were any of them freezemark or microchipped?
Put up photos in tack shops and photos on forums like this.
Someone may recognise them.

Thats a point - can u get any confirmation from the slaughterhouse, or maybe he was sold to be shipped abroad for slaughter, and he may be at a holding station or farm somewhere, not really sure of the rules or laws now in this country about such matters. I don't want to upset you but its worth exploring, get full facts from the police. If your boy was in fact the best horse amongst them all, in that he was broken etc might he not have sold him for more money and then the man lied to police so that the total value of the theft is minimised. That might be a ploy to get a lesser sentence perhaps.
Are you in Ireland by any chance?,
a lot of horses sold for slaughter in Ireland get sent to dodgy dealers over here, come over on the boat to Liverpool ( I think that's the port) In a way they get a second chance.
I know of one dealer who imported thousands of horses from Ireland over the years, that were mostly sold for slaughter there, that was in the Dartford, Kent area.
I think he is still in business. Many friends bought from him and a lot were really nice horses. They are all very cheap.
One can only guess where the ones that didn't sell went.

Like I say I don't want to get your hopes up either but..........

So sorry to read all this. Hope you can get the bastard - hope you know someone who can deal out some rough justice.

Get in touch with Susan Irwin, the BHS Development Officer for NI as soon as you can. Not sure what, if anything, she can do, but she'll have on the spot contacts.
 
OMG I am utterly shocked and discusted by what I have just read. I am so sorry that you are going through this terrible situation, my heart goes out to you and your poor ponies. Unfortunatly I do not have any advice but others have offered very good advice so hopefully their suggestions will lead you to your beloveds. I do hope something bad happens to that man, I cannot understand what motives people have to be so sick and evil.

Have a good cry and let all of your emotions out. Let it comfort you that Mo now feels no pain and is in a better place, his short lived life was a good one with you.
I hope you find the others, and you catch the bastard that did this to your horses.

He showed the police the receipt from the slaughter house with the horse description on it. Otherwise i wouldnt have believed it. He claimed Mo had a leg injury which i knew about, however he certainly didnt and I wasnt told.

I feel so numb, i cant cry anymore. I keep thinking on how scared he must have been, the smell from that rotten place. Mo was an excellent horse, he did hunting and sj. He built my confidence up so much that i started jumping again. He taught beginners to ride and he took more experienced ones out on hunts. He is really missed by everyone. Everyone ive told has broke down crying, they cant believe it.

The other 3 went to toome fair, they dont do receipts. My friends say its the perfect place to get rid of stolen horses. However we have only his word that is where they went, and his word means nothing to me.

The police are going on about him repaying me £650 for the horses, but i dont want it. I want my babies, theres now a huge hole in my life. Police are helping us take him to court, ive the full backing of the vet and farrier. Im sure my cousin will lie for him but i dont care.

If anyone lives in northern ireland, can you remember when toome fair was? It doesnt matter if yous cant remember as im phoning the council on monday. He told the police it was may day but thats a lie as we were still living in our old house when toome was on, moved here on the 25th April
 
Jesus hun - I am so sorry to hear what a dreadful ordeal you are going through. Your uncle is one sick b&@tard and I genuinely hope he gets his comeuppance! RIP Mo

Thats awful - I cant imaging how you must be feeling.

If it is any consolation, at least the slaughter house would have done a quick and professional job and mo wouldn't have suffered.

Please pursue this man legally - get estimates of the worth of each of your horses and the tack that you are missing, get a solicitor and if it wont hamper your case in any way, get the press involved.

It may not make you feel better, but at least he will pay for what he did, people wont forget.

There was a fair in Derry the other week as well that I was at - if you can get pics we will all keep our eyes and ears open.
 
I am so sorry to read the outcome of your posting from the other day. My heart and thoughts go out to you. What I can't understand is why your cousin has let this happen! How awful for you to be dealing with the loss of your horses but also to realise just what a horrible family member you have. Do hope the slaughter house decided your horse was worth keeping and decided the sell him on. Maybe pictures on the site could help with tracing them all as we could keep our eyes and ears out for horses being sold.

What an absolutely horrific thing to have happened. I am so so sorry. What a disgusting individual that man is.
re. what carmaandlin said, can you contact the slaughterhouse with some pics and ask if anyone remembers him and confirm what actually happened to him? Perhaps you could also contact the dealers over here who regularly buy from the sales over there and check if they have seen them. If you need any help, i am sure there are plenty of us that would do what we can to try and find them. You never know. I cannot believe that anyone would stoop so low to do something as vile as this.
