Today on a busy road we saw the horrendous sight of a dog that had been hit. No idea how it got on the road but someone said they thought the dog had jumped from the car and been hit by the car behind.

RIP little dog hope you didn't suffer :(

That is very sad and terribley upsetting for you to witness this, many years ago my mother and I was shopping and we stood waiting to cross the road. Suddenly a dog must have come behind us and crossed the road only to be knocked down and killed right in front of us. It was a Corgi and as we owned a Corgi at the time we both had the same thought was it ours, we rushed home and our Suzy was safely indoors where we had left her. This upset us so much even without us thinking it could have been our dog and I can still remember it like it was yesterday.

RIP little dog
We had a near miss recently people pulled into their gate and without shutting it again must have let the dog out. A westie ran in front of our horse lorry and was killed by a lorry coming the other way so sad and such a needless accident a few seconds more and the gate would have been shut

How sad :(

I was driing to my parents one morning last winter and saw a flash of something dark hurtling from the footpath to my right towards the road. I realised it didn't look like it was going to stop and the traffic coming the other way wouldn't see it because their view was blocked by trees. I was prepared to see something awful happen and I pulled over but there wasn't time to do anything.

by some miracle, this dog (a saluki type) shot out, the first car swerved and avoided it and the 2nd car alsi managed to miss it. I got out of my car as it came across the road and this terrfied dog thnakfully came to me. I was so relieved it got away with it. We managed to reunite her with her owner but my dad didn't tell the owner just how close she'd come to losing her dog that day.

What I also learned from that day is don't put your landline number on dog tags, either out a mobile or both as I couldn't get hold of anyone to find who the dog belonged to!

We have lost 3 dogs to RTAs, it is horrible :(
